As the Top Public School Awardee in 2005, Clarkson Community High School is a comprehensive high school (Years 8 to 12) providing a quality education to young people in the north-western suburbs of Perth including the suburbs of Brighton, Butler, Clarkson, Merriwa, Mindarie and Quinns. As a learning facility at the centre of a young and thriving community, the school is distinctly a community school. It recognises that the participation of the greater community, enriches all learning areas and has strong links with West Coast TAFE in Joondalup, Edith Cowan University (Joondalup campus) and a broad spectrum of employers who provide structured workplace learning opportunities for students. The school also actively embraces the concept of the school as a community resource by encouraging community use of school facilities.

Established in 1996 this modern facility has a sophisticated communication system linking all parts of the school. Learning technologies are spread throughout the school with a minimum 1:4 computer to student ratio. All computers have Internet access and each student has an individual user area and email account.

An innovative middle school structure with four learning communities meets the specific needs of students in Years 8 and 9. It is the aim of the middle school to implement and monitor academic, social and emotional development.

The senior school provides a range of study options to Years 10, 11 and 12 students. Whilst Year 10 students continue to apply the learning skills developed in the middle years of schooling within the framework of learning area curricula, Year 11 and 12 students are offered a wide range of tertiary entrance examination subjects, enabling them to meet the prerequisites for university. Also on offer is a comprehensive range of wholly school assessed subjects, a number of very successful vocational courses, structured workplace learning, Technical And Further Education (TAFE) profile funded courses and traineeships.
