There is a high demand for enrolment at the school and there is a school boundary to control the intake numbers. The school is situated opposite Southlands Shopping Centre in Willetton and is part of the central hub of the area. The suburb of Willetton is located a short distance from the Canning River and approximately 12 kilometres from Perth's Central Business District.

Willetton SHS is a leading secondary school in WA with a history of high academic achievement that has been consistent over many years. The school prides itself on its capacity to cater for students of all abilities including disabled students and the school environment is very inclusive. There are strong pastoral care structures in the school, which create an environment that is welcoming and comfortable for students. The Student Services Centre was opened in 1997 and provides a host of support systems for all students.

Willetton SHS values its students as individuals with different backgrounds, interests, abilities and aptitudes. Its teachers are committed to supporting each student by providing learning programs that recognise and take account of these differences so each student can enjoy their schooling and achieve their academic potential.
