Safety Bay Senior High School is a large comprehensive high school located 50 kilometres south of the centre of Perth. Currently on the southern fringe of the metropolitan area the district has grown from a weekend holiday village to become a satellite suburban centre interfacing with all of the regions of Perth, but in particular with the Kwinana industrial area and the nearby naval base.

The school opened in 1978 and was built to a design that envisaged the 'open area' mode of curriculum delivery. The original sub-school design now accommodates a cross-curricular learning community mode of delivery, with information technology access areas replacing the central open area hubs, and with cross curricular Learning Area arrangements for delivery of curriculum in years 10, 11 and 12. The school has embraced the Middle School philosophy and has purpose built Year 8 and 9 Middle School Learning Environments.

These learning areas are complimented with a gymnasium, theatre, library, playing fields, Fitness Centre, tennis, netball and basketball courts.
The school has the Safety Bay SHS Football (soccer) Academy which is a fully accredited elite level Specialist Sports Program that has won numerous awards and State Titles since its inception in 2001. The Academy offers both boys and girls the opportunity to access elite level training in years 8-12 from highly accredited coaches using the best training resources available.
