Rockingham Senior High School is a well-established and resourced school that offers our students a comprehensive and caring secondary education. Our size enables each student to choose from a wide range of interesting courses designed to meet their individual needs and aspirations. We offer an excellent academic program that allows each student to extend their learning in a variety of specialist areas in both lower and upper secondary school.
Located in a garden setting with our close proximity to the coast Rockingham Senior High School provides a pleasant learning environment. Our unique location enables easy access to industry and the marine environment. The school is widely recognised as a provider of Maritime related secondary education and is acknowledged as the Maritime Specialist School in Western Australia by the Department of Education and Training. No other secondary school in Australia provides Years 8 - 12 students with the opportunity to participate in an integrated, cross-curricular Maritime Studies Program. The success of the Maritime Studies Sub-school has now led to the introduction of two additional sub-schools designed to meet the individual needs of our students. These are the Art/Humanities and Science/Technology & Enterprise Sub-schools.
Through our sub-school structure students now have the unique opportunity to pursue a broad-based secondary education while focusing on their personal interests and career aspirations. Students work within one of the three sub-schools, which cater for students in Years 8 - 12. Each sub-school is staffed with a team of well trained teachers who closely monitor individual student's progress and provide a learning program best suited to assist the individual move along the learning continuum. Students of all abilities are catered for by staff well skilled in providing both extension opportunities and additional support where required in a collaborative and positive learning environment. Managers are appointed to manage and lead teams of teachers delivering outcomes based curriculum.
