Leeming Senior High School operates under the Education Act of 1999 and forms part of the Department of Education Western Australia's system of schools. As a public school it is committed to the values that underpin secular schooling. These values include Learning, Excellence, Equity and Care.

The school is located in the southern suburbs of the Perth metropolitan area and caters for the educational needs of nearly twelve hundred secondary school students enrolled in years eight to twelve.

The community it serves is a multi-cultural one, mainly comprising families of middle socio-economic background; but it does include a number of families who qualify for Government Assistance. A significant number of families are of Chinese ethnicity.

The school draws its student population from its surrounding suburbs. The year eight intake is drawn mainly from Banksia Park, Bateman, Bullcreek, Leeming and West Leeming primary schools; however increasing numbers of students are enrolling from the Atwell and Canning Vale areas.

Leeming Senior High School enjoys a positive reputation, both for the excellent educational opportunities it offers and for its high standards of achievement and behaviour. Students are encouraged to achieve personal excellence in all aspects of the curriculum and to interact with each other and with the wider community in a positive, constructive and socially responsible manner. Our school motto is 'Harmony and Excellence'.
