Wodonga High School has a very proud tradition of educational excellence. Over many years, we have led the way in the delivery of programs that have produced academic standards that, amongst the schools in this district, are simply second to none.
Our students are engaged in well balanced, challenging learning programs that cover a diverse curriculum catering for a wide range of intertests, abilities and learning styles. The school's music and drama programs are exceptional and are centred on our Performing Arts Centre. The school is strongly committed to sport and several teams in recent years have been very successful in statewide competitions. A broad range of extra curricula activities are provided including a camps and excursions program for each year level. Our staff are a very capable team incorporating a blend of experience and younger teachers who are dedicated to providing firm discipline within a framework that will nuture talents and foster high aspirations.
Wodonga High is also part of a number of new educational initiatives including the 'Middle Years Research and Development Project' across Years 5-9, the 'Science In Schools' project and is a leader in the introduction of individual case management for students in our Senior School under the 'Pathways' approach. Our school leadership team has recently successfully participated in the Quality in Schools program and have just commenced an involvement in the Investors in People' management project.
Wodonga High School is also committed to being an exemplar in the use of Learning Technologies in an effective teaching and learning environment. We have a very large computer network with four class size computer labs and five mini computer labs adjacent to classrooms, together with computers for student access in the Library and VCE Study Centre. A new 1.7 million dollar Science/Technology Centre is in the design phase and construction will commence in 2002 as Stage 1 of a facilities upgrade for the school. This will provide six additional classrooms specifically designed for a modern 'high tech' approach to the teaching of technology based subjects in a school (computing, wood, metal, plastics, photography, video, multimedia, physics, electronics).
