Kyabram and district is a prosperous, progressive rural community with particular concentration on dairy and fruit farming and associated processing industries. The College services a closely settled area, has a catchment radius of about 20 kilometres and population of approximately 25,000 people. Kyabram Secondary College has about 900 students, 100 staff, and plays an important leadership role in the district.

The College provides a safe, structured and secure learning environment with an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated staff. The College aims to be at the forefront of curriculum development and implemented a new curriculum structure from Years 7 to 10 in 2000.

This was designed to achieve an appropriate balance between a broad general education across the eight key learning areas, and opportunities for students to specialise in areas of particular skill and interest. Through the Form Care program, supported by the strong welfare system, teachers aspire to monitor and carefully advise each student. The commitment to the Middle Years of schooling project and transition programs is evidence of the desire for a seamless transition from primary to post primary education.
