Charlton College is a Preparatory to Yr 12 College formed by the merger of Secondary and Primary schools at the beginning of  1995.  It commenced the 1997 school year on dual campuses - the P to 12 campus catering to Years Prep to 12 and the North Central Cluster Centre campus to deliver a broad range of technology and other subjects to the students of Charlton and secondary colleges of the North Central Schools' Cluster.

The College curriculum offerings are expanded by cooperation between schools through video conferencing links, technology and other provision through the North Central Cluster Centre and to a lesser extent, staff and student travel between Cluster Schools.

Charlton College is currently undergoing curriculum development in a number of areas including: ‘Early Years’ literacy and numeracy programming in the junior school; curriculum and structural revision in the teaching of the Middle Years of Schooling (Yrs 5 to 8); a substantial increase in VCE subject offerings including accelerated access; VET programs resulting in VCE and TAFE qualifications in Hospitality, Information Technology, Engineering, Motor Mechanics, Electronics, Music and Agriculture.

The campuses of Charlton College are situated in extensive, well maintained grounds. Recent structural & landscaping improvements have been made throughout the College buildings and grounds and extensive tree planting is enhancing the play areas and beginning to provide a pleasant environment and shade for our students.
