Aramac State School is a small rural school that provides educational services to Preschool to Year 10 students from the township of Aramac and surrounding areas. Currently there are approximately 65 students enrolled.
The township of Aramac is situated in Central Western Queensland and is located 67km from Barcaldine, the home of the Tree of Knowledge and birthplace of the Australian Labor Party.
Students in Year 8-10 attend the Longreach Pastoral College for 4 one-week blocks per year to complete practical studies in the Certificate II in Agriculture course. A range of modules are completed from either the Pastoral or Mechanical/Engineering streams. Students are accommodated at the Longreach School of Distance Education student quarters and all meals are catered for by the Longreach Pastoral College. The total cost of this experience per student is $1000 per year, however parents are not charged any additional fees. The school pays for this course through their normal grant funding and through access to funding sources including PCAP and the Department of Employment and Training Youth Access program.
