Mortlake College is a P-12 school which serves the rural district surrounding Mortlake, a sheep beef and dairy farming area about 50 kilometres north of Warrnambool. The School, formed from the amalgamation of Mortlake Primary School and Mortlake Secondary College in 1993, now has all students on a fully established site.

Mortlake College is committed to excellence in education and recognises that learning happens best in a warm, accepting and stimulating environment. Student welfare is based on mutual respect and positive self esteem. Open communication channels are provided via a weekly newsletter, regular press coverage, Parent/Teacher interviews, open Council meetings and an open door policy which encourages parents to visit the school and speak with school personnel on a regular basis. Parental involvement in the curriculum is encouraged.

The Hood Avenue site which now houses the whole school, boasts up to date and extensive facilities. These include technology rooms, 2 computer rooms as well as computers in every classroom in the college, home economics room, gymnasium with squash courts, canteen and a theatre with large screen viewing facilities. Four classrooms and a library have been added to accommodate the P-6 students on site. School council is working constantly to improve the learning conditions of all students. Attention is given to providing active and passive areas for students use. The school has a mini-farm on site and an adjacent man-made lake which both provide an excellent focus for many educational activities. An active and supportive Parents' Association run the canteen.
