We are a small, isolated rural school located in a paddock (the school stands isolated – not even a shop or post box, only the principal’s house.).Being a small school we have opted to work with other schools in the area. We have a threeyear cycle underway.

Year 9 students participate in the New Horizons Camp run by Lameroo Regional Community School. This aims to encourage students to explore the option of selfemployment within their local area.

Year 10 students participate in a Work Observation camp in Adelaide in conjunction with the students from Karoonda Area School. This camp explores the range of jobs available to students, possible career paths and provides information on how to get there. It also examines part time work and includes a ‘city orientation’ to familiarise country students with Adelaide and transport systems.

Year 11 students participate in Work Experience / Work Placements in line with their VET modules. Students are encouraged to go to Adelaide and utilise public transport (after extensive planning and support from their teachers). In the future it is hoped that students will also involve TAFE institutes.

QTS for teachers qualified in Aus. and NZ

The Department for Education have now confirmed that as of April 1st 2012, teachers whom have qualified in Australia and New Zealand will now be recognised as qualified teachers and awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England without being required to undertake any further training or assessment.

As well as being eligible to work in the UK, overseas trained teachers (OTTs) will need to have a fully recognised teaching qualification and, in some instances, registration from their country of origin. Teachers can apply for UK Qualified Teachers Status (QTS) by completing the following form:
