Mimili is an Anangu community on the Pitjantjatjara Lands inthe north west of South Australia. ThePitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara Lands are held on freehold title under the termsof the Anangu Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara Lands. Entrance to the AnanguPitjatjantjara Lands is dependant on having a permit. Anangu Education Servicesnegotiate with Anangu Pitjantjatjara the issue of these permits. Schools canalso arrange for the issue of permits.

Most students at Mimili are Anangu and speak eitherPitjantjatjara or Yankunytjatjara as their first language. A few students arefrom other Aboriginal language groups and speak Aboriginal English. From timeto time non-Aboriginal students are also enrolled.

Mimili is a growing community and the school has mirroredthis growth. A significant factor for Anangu communities and schools is thetransient nature of the population. Despite this there has been a steady growthin the school population and this is expected to continue. Student retentionhas improved significantly and programs are being implemented to engage olderstudents.
