Bray Park State High School opened in 1987. The school is located in the Murrumba Educational District and services the community of Bray Park, Strathpine, Lawnton, Warner and Dayboro. It is situated in a rapidly growing area, servicing local frame; and those who have relocated from overseas, interstate and Queensland country areas.
For our junior students, we recognise that the transition from Primary to Secondary schooling represents a significant leap. We therefore employ a Middle School approach for Years 8 and 9 that allow them to make this step with confidence. Through the use of dedicated teams of teachers we create higher expectations of learning within a connected outcomes based curriculum.
For our senior students we offer an extensive range of options focussed on the specific interests, abilities and eligibility needs of the individual student. Every student has the opportunity to select from a range of subjects that will allow them to develop those skills appropriate for them. For those students who want to undertake further learning after school there are a wide range of academic subjects available for selection that will provide them with a suitable path for university or TAFE courses. Students in senior classes also have an option of completing subjects with embedded Vocational Education and Training modules (VET). These can lead to completing a full certificate level while still at school. For students wishing to follow a career in a specific industry there is also the opportunity of completing a school based traineeship or apprenticeship. This involves working one day a week and completing their school studies the other four days.
